Finished Doll Quilt & something to share

I quilted the tumbler doll quilt, put the binding on it, and here it is.

Here's a close-up of my 2 favorite fabrics
The cream background with the blue and purple flowers and the one just to the right of it,  with the purple background and the blue, green and pink flowers.  Both of them are "vintage" and came to me in a bag of scraps that my neighbor gave me.

And speaking of "vintage" fabric, I was the lucky recipient of a whole box recently.  Mostly half yard pieces or smaller.  I just wanted to share one of them with you today....... it made me smile.
This says 1950's to me.  I think this fabric would make a really cute little bag.  I love the poodle, the Eiffel tower, and the bicycles...  I'll share some of the others some other time!

Beginners Quilt-Along

Although I don't really think of myself as a beginner, I thought it would be fun to participate:
Beginner’s Quilt-Along

I figured the blocks would be fairly easy to make, and if I'm making a block every week, I'd have enough for an entire quilt in no time!  This is my block for Week #1.  Maybe I should have used fabrics that contrasted more.  I'm gonna stick with this one, I guess.  I am about a week behind, and will get Week #2's block done in the next day or two.  I seem to have a lot of "random" fat quarter bundles, and I thought it might be a good way to use one of them up.

I'm also working on a doll quilt.  My favorite local quilt shop owner has put out a request for doll quilts for 18" dolls.  It was requested of her by the local shelter.  They have started a project - they give all girls that are removed from their homes a doll, clothes for the doll, and a quilt.  I should make some doll clothes as well, but thought I'd start with a quilt.

I decided it would be a chance to make a tumbler quilt - might as well start small and see how it goes.  I had cut a lot of these small tumblers right after I got the die for my AccuQuilt.  I used a lot of vintage fabric scraps that I had on hand.  I think my 2 favorites are on the left in the photo above - the second fabric from the bottom left hand corner - it's purple with the blue and green flowers, and also the one directly above it.

I'll be sure and show a picture when it's finished!

Wedding quilt

I posted a picture of this quilt awhile back, when it was ready to be quilted.  Here it is, all quilted, with binding on, washed and crinkly..... all ready for the happy bride and groom.
Happy wedding day, Z & L.....
May you have many happy years together!  :)

An "Arkansas Crossroads" weekend

I spent a lot of time this weekend sewing quilt blocks.  I managed to get 2 "Arkansas Crossroads" tops pieced.  I finished the one on the right first.  It actually turned out like the one on the left - see the half x's on both sides and the top and bottom?  For some reason, I thought those should all be full x's, so to used my trusty seam ripper to take a row off of one side, and off the bottom, and attached them to the opposite side.  Let me just say, that was way too much work, and I decided there is really nothing wrong with 1/2 and 1/4 x's on the sides and in the corners!

The smaller quilt, the one on the right, is made using the actual sized blocks I intended to.  That's all I'm saying.  The one on the left is made using the mistakes from the one on the right.  Of course I also needed to make more, to add to it.

Mr. Small town decided it would be a good day to clean out the vehicle.
And son #2 decided it would be a good day to mow.
My planter is not looking too bad.......
